Samsung has officially launched the beta for One UI 7.0, which is perhaps the biggest software overhaul in the company's history. This new update features a variety of visual enhancements and adds productivity, health, and Galaxy AI functionalities.
Who is Eligible for the One UI 7 Beta?
The rollout for the One UI 7 beta began on December 5, initially covering Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US. This update is currently available only for Samsung's 2024 flagship models, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Support for other devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy S23 series, is expected to follow soon.
How to Download the Samsung One UI 7 Beta
Eligible users can download the One UI 7 beta by following these steps:
1. Log in to your Samsung account.
2. Open the Samsung Members app on your compatible Galaxy device and navigate to ‘Notices.’
3. Find the notice titled “Registration for One UI 7 Beta Program" and tap on Join Now.
4. Accept the terms by clicking Enroll and then Agree to complete your registration for the One UI 7 Beta.
5. Go to the Settings app and select Software Update.
6. You should now see the One UI 7 beta update available for download. Install it and restart your device to enjoy the latest features.
What's New in One UI 7?
Galaxy AI
Similar to Apple's offerings, Samsung is incorporating writing tools into One UI 7, allowing users to summarise content, check spelling and grammar, and format lengthy notes into bullet points. The update also includes support for call transcripts in 20 languages, including English (India) and Hindi. This feature can be activated through the settings, enabling automatic recording of calls and transcription for future reference.
Redesigned User Interface
The update features significant design improvements aimed at enhancing user control. A highlight is the Now Bar, a notification system integrated into the lock screen that provides quick access to frequently used tools like the interpreter, music player, and stopwatch. Samsung has designed this feature to reduce unnecessary unlocking of devices while boosting efficiency.
Other enhancements include a redesigned home screen, improved widgets, and an updated lock screen that allows for more intuitive device customisation. The camera application has also undergone a redesign, featuring reorganised controls for a clearer experience. Pro video modes now offer simplified manual settings and a new zoom control for smoother recording transitions.
